Welcome to the Red City

A place where Chaos reigns.
It is a place of desolation and violence. The home of monsters. A place where life has to fight every minute to exist. And yet, it is also a place of hope, of love, of community, and of courage. It is a place much closer to us than anyone would like to believe.

Welcome! This is an ongoing choose-your-own-adventure story set in one of my original worlds. There are themes of fantasy, horror, politics, post-apocalyptic survival, war, and more. It is rated between PG-13 and R. There are death scenes, some of them might be pretty horrible. There will be no NC-17 or X-Rated content.

It is similar to an RPG and will involve making a character, and rolling a regular six-sided game die.

The Rules

These are essentially impossible for me to enforce, but in order to create the best experience for yourself, and to preserve the best experience for others, please adhere to them.

  • NO using the Back or Forward Buttons. Follow only the provided link-options.
  • NO Bookmarking/Saving/Linking Pages, except this one.
  • NO Spoilers posted anywhere.
  • FOLLOW your dice rolls honestly. If you Succeed, click Succeed. If you Fail, click Fail.
  • FOLLOW the chapter order. Don’t skip ahead or things will make very little sense. Do not go to the next chapter until you have passed/survived the chapter before.
  • KEEP TRACK of your character sheet. Write it down according to the instructions below. Any instructions to adjust your character sheet will be in Orange. These adjustments may represent new skills, companions, or items, and will help you onto certain paths. Do not take these paths if you don’t have the adjustments.

Build Your character.

Write your name.
You can choose to play yourself, make up a character, or, if you want, anyone from nearly any setting, provided they don’t require special abilities beyond what is written. Relatively modern-aesthetic settings are best.

There are 3 Attributes: Physical, Mental, and Social.
Choose one of these to be Strong. You can circle or underline it.

When you face a skill challenge option, it will look something like this:
“ROLL: PHYS 4

This means roll the die and try to roll 4 or higher. A link will be provided for you to click if you succeeded, or failed to reach that number.

If the roll is your Strong Attribute, if you roll and fail, you can reroll, one-time per challenge. Alternatively, if you have them, you can roll 2 dice instead of rerolling and just take the higher result.

You are responsible for keeping track of your character sheet.

Name:

Physical

Mental

Social

Once you have your character made, you can begin by clicking on the chapter links below.

Good luck!
