Desperate to get out, no matter who might be out there, I begin shouting:
“HELLOOOO! IS ANYONE THERE? CAN ANYONE HERE ME? I’M STUCK! I NEED HELP!”
I shout like this for a few minutes, until my voice becomes hoarse. When I finally have to stop and take stock, catching my breath, letting my pulse slow down. That’s when I hear it. A whisper. Someone is out there, and close.
1- “Hello?” I say, more hopefully. “Is someone there?”
